So many people have recently asked me how it is that even after 5 years that I have never had to repair or replace my garage door. For me it all started back in 2012 when I had a wooden garage.

The contractor was nice enough to tell me look, “if you want this thing to keep working flawlessly make sure that you keep up with its maintenance”. That’s what I have been doing since, ensuring that my garage is properly maintained.

Now it may seem a bit complicated keeping up with regular maintenance however it is actually quite simple and you can also do it easily. Now I am not saying that you should go all out and but the most expensive cleaning agents for your Garage door these maintenance tips usually come down too two things and are quite simple.

Balance:

The first thing that you need to be doing is to check if your garage door is balanced, and this is how you go about doing that.
  1. Close the garage door.
  2. Pull on the door release handle to see manual operation.
  3. Lift the door about 3 or 4 feet above the ground. If it remains open then this is an indication that the door is properly balanced. If not, then you might want to consult a technician

Lubrication:

This is perhaps the most important part of any garage door maintenance and should be done frequently to avoid the wear and tear associated with the regular workings of a garage door.

Make sure that you lubricate all the moving parts of your garage door to ensure optimal working, and in turn ensure its longevity.
